How To Dress For A High School Dance

How To Dress For A High School Dance

Hey guys, it's Hanna.

So the school has started and that means that dances will be starting as well. Our school has a back to school dance coming up soon. Here are some tips on how to dress and what to wear!

✤ Pick what you are going to wear. Find a flirty top to wear, one with bright colors and that compliments your personality, and you can look attractive without showing too much skin. If anything, potential dates will see how relaxed and laid back you are.If it is a casual dance wear a cute, girly top. Try a camisole with a cardigan or jacket with shorts or a mini skirt. A more formal dance calls for a cute dress, though.

✤ Make your hair lovely. Wear your hair in a simple swept-up style. A casual, messy bun looks really great, and it stays in. You could also try half up half down or free hair.

✤ Get the make-up. If you make your eyes the focus, try making them smoky and eyeliner for a dramatic affect. This will set them off fabulously! Or you can make them sparkly or smoky then wear a pale shade of lip gloss. And never forget mascara! Try on the make up and check it with a friend to make sure it's not too much; less is more!If you want to draw attention to your lips give them a bold color like red or bright pink.

✤ Shoes - Heels look great but put some flats in your bag for when your feet start to hurt.

✤ Hair - Do something that you do not usually do; whether this is straightening, curling or an interesting updo.

✤ A bag - A bag isn't exactly necessary for a dance, but if you need one make sure it isn't too large and matches your outfit. Make it only big enough to hold the essentials (lip gloss, cell phone, keys, camera etc.) and make sure that someone is going to watch it while you are dancing.(If your school doesn't allow bags or purses because they think you might have drugs or alcohol, bring a cute jacket with pockets. Some schools have coat racks for your jackets. If you need to get something from your pockets, it'll be at the coat rack. Or where ever your jacket is).

✤ Jewelry - For jewelry keep it simple. If your top is busy, skip the necklace. Depending on your build, you might want long, dangly earrings, or studs. Get someone else's opinion.

✤ Don't forget the all important deodorant/antiperspirant and perfume. No guy will want to dance with someone who smells. Also remember to shave your underarms and legs.

Also keep in mind:

✤ Your best accessory is confidence! Don't just look like you look great in anything. Act like it too.

✤ If you don't have enough money to spend on a new outfit, ask to borrow something from a female relative or friend.

✤ Whatever you wear should make you feel comfortable with yourself. Don't wear something just because someone else would. Stick to your own style and your own taste and you'll always be comfortable with what you are wearing.

✤ Keep the style cool. If you're going with a boy, remember that many don't have much style! Take it case-by-case, but don't go outrageous!

✤ Don't over-do it all, try to look like you didn't spend an hour picking out an outfit. More like you look great in almost anything. Because you do!

✤ Dress fabulously. This is your time to shine.

✤ Your hair should look nice and laid back, so leave a couple of strands out.

✤ Act responsibly: don't drink just because you see someone else with alcoholic beverages. And never EVER get into a car with a driver that's been drinking.

✤ Keep in mind that your top is flirty, and in your comfort zone. If you want to be showing more or less than you are comfortable, then yes, guys will dance with you, but try to make good conversation with them too, so then maybe they'll dance with you because they like you, as well as your top too.

✤ It's always better to be under dressed than overdressed, and at many high schools, students don't go to dances in suit jackets and ballroom gowns.

And this are all the tips I have for you today. Hope you enjoyed!!

xoxo
-Hanna
